英文摘要 | The objective of this research is to determine whether the impactecho method is capable of detecting voids in grouted tendon ducts adopted in post-tensioning prestressed members. Numerical studies were performed first to understand how the stress waves produced by point impact interact with completely or partially grouted ducts. The feasibility of using the impact-echo method for detection of voids in ducts was evaluated. Laboratory studies were carried out to verify the numerical results. Results obtained from these studies show that stress waves can penetrate through the completely grouted ducts without significant wave reflections. If there exists voids in the ducts due to poor grouting quality, wave reflections occur at the concrete/void interface. Thus, a big difference between the spectra obtained from impact-echo tests on completely grouted ducts and those for partially grouted ducts makes it easy to find the ducts containing voids. The location of the partially grouted ducts can be determined by identifying the high amplitude peak associated with multiple reflections from the voids in the spectrum. |
