英文摘要 | Last year, there were two hot-selling books published in mainland China. the first one is titled China Has Its Right to Say "No," which was written by Song Qian and four others, a group of youth aged 30 or so. Representing thoughts of nationalism, this book mainly deals with matters of anti-hegemonism targeting the U.S.A.; however, it was a book far from well-written. The second one, Studying in the U.S.A.: a Time Story, was written by38-year-old Qian Nang, son of qian qichen, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC and serving as Minister of Foreign Affirs. Reflecting thoughts of the 250,000 mainland chinese studying abroad, the book with the spirit of democratization depicts their strong resentment against the CPC's practice of the proletarian ictatorship. Over thes years, there has been disputation over the importance between nationalism and democratization on the Mainland. As an excellent example, the Three Principles of the People written by Dr. Sum Yat-sen suggested that nationalism and democratization could complement each other rather the repel one another. The publishing of these two books conveys strong message. The most important one among them is that future leaders from this generaton, with democratic consciousness as well as in depth command of high-tech know-how, will get rid of the rule of the Chinese Communists to build China into a modern democratic country by implementing political reform, developing science and technology, and promoting economic construction. |
