英文摘要 | The arrival of multi-media has brought new ways of communicating-- with people, the world around us, and computers themselves. It has opened up new possibilities in the modern working world. An employee is no longer restricted to working at the company office; he or she can work from an office at home, or even on a park bench. The telework market has begun to boom. According to statistics from the European Union, approximately two million teleworkers will be in the market by the year 2000, of which Germany will supply around 800,000. The German government believes that if this can be achieved, then it will result in enormous investment in hardware and software worth approximately DM 12 billion (NT$216 billion). At the Orgatec '96 exhibition in Cologne, we saw many new products designed for teleworkers and workers at home, including new designs in compact desk and minioffices. Generally, the new office design can be divided into two categories: 1. The office at home-an office set up at an employee's home to meet company requirements. 2. The home office-an office set up by the individual to meet private requirements. Since the scope for developing personal office products for the home office is greater than for the office at home, TDCD's (Taipei Design Center, Dusseldorf's) focus on design for the home office in this article reveals many opportunities. The new design language embodies softer, more personal features, and is the key to the creation of offices in the home which accommodate the emotional and other personal dimensions more readily than do offices in the company building. They are more household-oriented, warmer, and future design looks to become less "cool". |
