英文摘要 | Visible damages to leaves occur when plants are exposed to high concentrations of SO₂. In the present study, soybean, peanut, sorghum and corn plants were exposed to 1.5 uL L⁻¹ SO₂ over a period of 7 days and the leaf CO₂ exchange rates (CER) as well as several physiological parameters related to CER were examined. SO₂ fumigation inhibited leaf CER of the plants by decreasing stomatal and mesophyll conductances and by decomposing chlorophyll and soluble protein. SO₂ fumigation also inhibited the light and dark reactions of photosynthesis. However, reduced leaf CER for the SO₂-treatd crop species appears related to the SO₂-induced inhibition in mesophyll conductance. Significant sensitivity differences in leaf CER and several related physiological traits to SO₂ fumigation also existed among the four crop species, with corn and soybean tending to e more sensitive to SO₂ than sorghum and peanut. |
