中文摘要 | 雖然國內的大一新生都已修習至少六年的英文:三年在國中、另三年在高中修習,惟在聽與說兩方面仍然有困難。針對此點,許多老師也做過不少研究,咸認為我們聯考僅有筆試是造成此惡果的原因,所以高中學生們幾乎很少接受此訓練來改善其聽和說的技巧。然從對大一新生所做之問卷結果得知,大約百分之六十七之新生皆認為他們有迫切的需求,想加強此二種能力。同時在進入大學後,老師和學生均無升學壓力,故可說是增強此兩種能力的最佳時機。配合此需求,有一些輔助教材可選用以加強學生們在此兩方面的表現。拜科技進步之賜,錄影帶在語言教學上非常有效用,故已廣泛被英文老師用於各階段的英語教學中,因為老師們可以用錄影帶來營造一個真實的語言環境以便引發同學們的學習興趣、減輕他們的壓力、進而刺激他們聽、想、和說。藉著觀賞錄影帶,學生們因對劇情的了解而增強了聽力、並被劇情吸引而引發了學習動機,達到寓教於樂的效果,此為一般教科書和錄音帶所不及。老師們更可指定同學在家中或學校看一些適於教學用的錄影帶,學生可看許多次,並模仿劇中角色的發音與語調,甚至可將其錄成錄音帶反複聽、並模仿。如此語言教學可從教室延伸到家中。逐漸地,學生可經由觀賞錄影帶而使他們的聽、說能力得以持續的進步,並培養出對英文的興趣。 |
英文摘要 | Despite the fact that all the freshmen in Taiwan have been studying English for at least six years (three years in junior high schools and three years in senior high schools), they still encounter difficulty in listening and speaking. The findings of some research done on this subject by many English teachers indicate that the Joint Entrance Examination with its emphasis on written test is partly responsible for making students paid less attention to listening and speaking. High school students receive little training in listening and speaking since no oral tests are set for the entrance examination. The survey that I have conducted in my college, however, shows that around 67 percent of the freshmen have a pressing need to improve their listening and speaking ability. Neither teachers nor students have the pressure of passing rate for entrance exam in college. Therefore, it is time for freshmen to improve these two skills. To enhance their performance in these two areas, some teaching aids should be used. Thanks to technological advancement, videos, as a very useful and effective resource for teaching, are widely utilized by English teachers in schools of all levels. Teachers can use video to create an authentic language environment to arouse students' interests, release their tension and to stimulate them to listen, think and talk. Through watching films, students can understand the plot of the story with little difficulty in listening to the dialogues between the actors. They also can find out the meaning of the plot and learn the actors' pronunciation of words and sentence patterns by watching the video repeatedly. Language learning, therefore, extends beyond the boundary of the classroom to home.Consequently, students are benefited by watching videos as their speaking and listening ability witnesses a gradual and steady improvement. |
