英文摘要 | Chinese post service in Outer Mongolia was first inaugurated in Jan. 1910 in Urga. Because Mongolian are nomads and business activities in Outer Mongolia were not as booming as inland provinces, the number of post offices increased very slowly. In 1912, the Mongolian with the help of Russia surrounded Urga and expelled all the officials from the Central government. Afterwards, they attacked Kiachta, Uliassutai, and Kobdo. Chinese post offices were thus closed one after another. The article records the 11-year history of Chinese post offices in Outer Mongolia from the outset to the closure. Covers are chronologically arranged to justify the conclusions. Outer Mongolia are remote from the inland provinces. In the early Republic, not so much emphasis was put it; therefore there has always been a lock of related information. To explore the postal history in Outer Mongolia some 80 years later is far from easy. The author makes great efforts to attest the act by used covers. |
