中文摘要 | 本研究以中央研究院民族學研究所於一九九二年所做「臺灣地區杜會變遷基本調查」為資料來源,實證探討臺灣的社會階級結構對薪資決定過程之影響。此外,本研究也進一步比較階級結構對兩性薪資決定過程之影響,在研究方法上,兼採「多變項迴歸分析」及「薪資差異分解法」。研究結果顯示:在薪資決定過程上,階級變項之解釋力幾近等同於人力資本變項,而高於社經地位指數變項。證實階級結構在薪資決定過程上扮演重要影響因素。此外,女性比男性集中於權力較低之社會階級位置;而在每一個階級層次裡,女性之平均薪資遠低於男性。經由薪資差異分解法顯示,兩性階級結構分布之不同是造成兩性薪資差異的重要因素,其解釋兩性薪資差異之百分比高於兩性在人力資本變項上之差異。最後,在政策意涵上,建議政府除應加強健全兩性平等的工作環境外,更應深入探討傳統文化對女性不公平的對待,並檢討是否在社會北過程中,過度強調階級的性別色彩。政府應透過學校、傳播媒體及家庭等來灌輸民眾兩性平等的態度、價值與行為。 |
英文摘要 | This study attempts to empirically explore the effect of social class on earnings determination in Taiwan labor force. Following Wright's definition and operationalization of class, this study demonstrates that the effect of class on eaarnings is salient social reality, reflecting fundamental features of the social division of labor in Taiwan. The hierarchical regression analysis indicates that the explanatory power of class on earnings determination is the same as the human capital variables in the nonfarm sector and is a much more powerful than that of occupational status scales. This study has also found that the effect of class position is quite different for men and women. women are found to occupy lower earnings generating class positions than men and within each class position, women receive less earning than men. Although many women entered the labor force in Taiwan, this study found that economic development in Taiwan did not enhance women's autonomy and authority. Therefore, we contend that government should educate people regarding social equality attitudes, values, and behaviors for men and women through school education, mass media, and family education. In addition, we consider that government should provide various training programs and encourage women to participate in these programs to learn skills necessary for performing conventional male-dominant tasks. Also, the government should encourage firms to promote women with similar capabilities of men to important positions. |
