英文摘要 | Background: The mechanisms of amphetamine injury to the lung have not been well defined. The objectives of this study were to investigate changes in lung ventilation (LV) and alveolar permeability (AP) following long-term inhalation of amphetamine, using Tc-99m DTPA radioaerosol inhalation lung scinti-graphy. Methods: Twenty-three amphetamine abusers and eighteen age matched control subjects (12 non- smokers and 6 smokers) were enrolled in this study. Tc-99m DTPA radioaerosol inhalation lung scinti-graphy was performed to evaluate the LV and AP. The AP change in the lungs was presented as the t1/2 of the time-activity curves of Tc-99m DTPA radioaerosol lung clearance from dynamic lung images. Results: None of the 23 drug abusers showed significantly abnormal LV image findings. The tl/2 of Tc-99m DTPA radioaerosol clearance times were 123.8 ± 28.7 minutes for the nonsmoking control group, 61.5 ± 18.3 minutes for the nonsmoking amphetamine abusers, 33.5 ± 21.6 minutes for the cigarette-smoking amphetamine plus heroin users and 27.9 ± 16.9 minutes for cigarette-smoking am- phetamine users. In addition, the ti/2 for cigarette- smoking drug users was similar to that of the cigarette-smoking control group. Conclusions: These results indicate that Tc-99m DTPA radioaerosol inhalation lung scintigraphy may provide a sensitive and useful assay to evaluate the physiologic effects of amphetamine inhalation on the lungs. |
