英文摘要 | AISI M42 high speed steel, which was produced by Gloria Heavy Industrial Corp., is employed to investigate the effects of heat treatment on the microstructure, austenite grain size and tempering hardness. It was found that the austenite grain size increased with increasing the quenching temperature. At 1180-1200 ℃, the austenite grain size Index still keep in Snyder-Graff NO.11 or finer. However, "Incipient melting" at the grain boundaries was found when the quenching temperature was at 1230 ℃. these results also indicated that curve of the tempering hardness reached the "secondary hardening" peak value (∼ HRC 68) when the quenching temperature was at 1180 ℃ and then following the tempering at 520-540 ℃. On the other hand, the effect of precipitation hardening increased with increasing the quenching temperature. The detail mechanism of the temper secondary hardening is discussed in this paper. |
