中文摘要 | 隨著國際間各種科技交流日益頻繁,專技英文在我國高等教育已日漸受 到重視。本研究主在探討依現行五專英語課程設訂標準下,五專學生對專技英文 的學習需求現況。透過問卷調查及對相關文獻的探討,本研究期對下列三個問題 有深入探討: 1. 五專學生對學習專技英文所持之看法為何? 2. 專技英文應如何與一般英文課程銜接? 3. 3.專技英文的授課重點為何? 本研究經資料的統計分析所得之結果發現: 1. 五專學生對專技英文有學習需求,且其學習態度受專業老師及其畢業後是否 有升學之意願所影響。 2. 專技英文在五專前三年之英語課程中,受制於時數、適當教材之選取不易、 學生缺乏強烈學習動機等因素而有教授困難。其補救之道乃於四、五年級開 設選修課程供已具備一般語言能力及專業背景知識、並且有此學習需求的學 生選讀。 3. 此專技英文課程之授課重點不在教授語言結構本身,亦非專業內容的傳授, 而在經由各極以學習者為中心所設計之教學活動引導學生如何以已具備的語 言能力作較有系統的專業文章閱讀,以助其達學習目標。如此經由學習需求 的分析所設計之專技英文課程方能使五專英語教學更彰顯其效。 |
英文摘要 | Due to the urgent needs to have better communication for the technologyinteraction with other countries in this global village, the course of Englishfor Specific Purposes (ESP) has become more important in higher educationfield. The purpose of the study was: (1) to investigate students' viewpointstowards their learning needs of ESP; (2) to find out how to connect the ESPcourse with the general English course across the curriculum design; (3) tofind out what should be taught in the ESP course. The findings are (1) Students of junior colleges hold positive standpointstoward ESP learning. Moreover, their motivation can be influenced byteachers in specific fields and by the needs of continuing a further study afterthey graduate from the college. (2) Because of some difficulties of carryingout the ESP course in the first three years, ESP can be offered as an optionalcourse for those students who have the learning needs and have obtained therelated background knowledge in their specific fields in the fourth and fifthyears. (3) The key point of the course is neither to teach the language per se,nor the knowledge of students' specific fields, but to instruct them how tomake the best use of English to have better understanding from their field-specific authentic English texts(FSAETs,專業課程英文教材) by a variety oflearning tasks and more heuristic activities in class. |
