英文摘要 | This study characterized the storage of Machilus konishii Hay. seeds at various temperatures under dry and wet conditions. Seeds dry-stored at either 33% or 82% relative humidity (r.h.) showed longer life spans at 5℃ than at 15℃ because the seed moisture content decreased at a slower rate under low temperature regime. The life span of M. konishii seeds was shorter at 33% r.h. than at 82% r.h. when stored at the same temperature. Also, the lower the moisture content, the greater the seed damage which occurred. Seeds stored at 5℃ and 82% r.h. had a longer life span, but a rapid decrease of germination in the initial six-week storage is inexplicable at present. Wet storage at 5℃ did not effectively extend the life span of M. konishii seeds and seed viability was maintained for only two months. |
