英文摘要 | Sun Yat-sen's revolutionary activities after 1895 and K'ang Yu-wei's Reform Movement of 1898 were stimulated by the defeat of Ch'ing Empire in Sino-Japanese War in 1894. Sun asserted to overturn the alien Manchu Regime, but K'ang just wanted to reform Her and didn't want hers collapse. After their failure with the revolutionary attempt in 1895 and Reform Movement of 1898, Sun and K'ang respectively escaped from China to go abroad. Primarily, K'ang was welcomed more than Sun by the overseas Chinese, but this situation gradually changed after 1900. Chang Ping-lin, a famous scholar in classic Chinese literature in late Ch'ing period, originally sustained and interested in K'ang's reform movement before 1900, but altered dramatically his manner after the Boxer Rebellion in 1900. He wrote some articles to denounce K'ang and the Ch'ing Court which were very helpful to Sun, but that finally led him in prison at shangshai in 1903. After his release in 1906, he went to Japan and edited the People's Tribune (Min-Pao), a very important anti-K'ang magazine of Sun's revolution party--"T'ung-meng hui". Since Sun had been expelled to Annam (Veitnam) by Japanese government in March 1907, Chang began to object Sun because it was said he was a "bribee" from Japanese. In May 1909, Sun left Singapore for Europe and America. Sun hadn't sufficiently supplied money to Chang for the sake of deficient linance, Chang condemned him publicly in the winter of 1909 that conducted the decline of Sun's supporters in southeast Asia. Sun came back Malaya from America in July 1910 and then restored his influence there. Terminally Sun overthrew the Ch'ing dynasty in the Revolution of 1911. |
