中文摘要 | 近年來在台幣持續升值,工資大幅上漲,國內勞工及環保意識高漲及國際保護主 義氣氛瀰漫等多重壓力下,許多企業為了生存,紛紛赴海外進行投資。這些海外投除美國之 外,均以大陸及及東南亞開發中國家為主。然而,台商赴大陸及東南亞投資的真正動機與目 的何在?台商在詳細評估外在環境因素及內部資源後,又以何種進入模式(Entry Modes)及 經營略策來管理其子公司?其最後之經營績效為何?過去尚少有學者針對以上之問題,進行 全盤性的實證研究。 本研究透過對450家廠商之調查訪談,瞭解台灣企業在海外投資之經營管理現況。並探 討以下之研究主題: 1. 探討不同產業別之台灣企業目前在大陸及東南亞地區之投資概況。 2. 探討並比較不同產業別,且在不同地區進行投資之台灣企業,其海外投資之動機、目 的、進入模式、經營策略及營運績效等各方面之差異性。 3. 探討影響台商海外子公司經營績效之重要構面因素,並研究各因素間之相互關係。 研究結果顯示,台商赴海外投資之主要要動機有利用當地廉價勞力,掌握原料,產品生 命週期再生等因素,其海外進入之模式以採取高度控制之經營方式為主要而當地主國之技術 能力愈強時,廠商愈傾向以低度控制之經營方式。在經營績效方面,以大型民生工業且為高 度控制之經營方式,其績效較佳。迴歸模型顯示勞工因素、成本因素及差異化競爭略因素為 廠商經營致勝之關鍵。 |
英文摘要 | Due to the appreciation of NT dollars, the inflation of worker wages, the severe requirements on labour benefits and environmental regulations, and the growth of international protectionism, many local enterprises have accelerated their investment paces at the overseas marketplaces in recent years. Most of these investments have focused on Mainland China and the South East Asia countries. Yet, what are the underlying motivations and objectives of these investments? How did these enterprises evaluate their internal resources and external (overseas) environments before they made final investment decisions? What are the most prevalence entry modes and management strategies for the local firms to operate their overseas subsidiaries? What are the overall performances of these overseas investments? What are the overall performances of these overseas investments? Previous Studies tended to use piece meal approaches and did not integrate relevant dimensions into a more comprehensive research framework. This study focused on the investigation of management activities for the investments of overseas subsidiaries located at Mainland China and other four South East Asia countries (i.e., Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, and the Philippines). The purposes of this study are threefolds: (1). To investigate the current overseas status of local enterprises at Mainland China and other four Southeast Asia countries with different industry categories; (2). To compare and evaluate the and differences of the overseas investment motivations/objectives, entry modes, management strategies and management performances among the investments of Taiwanese multinational subsidiaries with different industry categories located at different host countries; (3). To evaluate the Key Success Factors of the operation performances of overseas investment and the interrelationship between factors. The study results indicated that the utilization of low cost labours, the acquirement of raw materials, and the revitalization of product life cycle were among the most crucial motivation factors for the firm's overseas investments. Firms tended to adopt high involement entry mode to control their overseas subsidiaries, unless the capability of production of the domestic country is higher enough to be independent. Finally, firms with larger sales volume, producing consumer products, and adopting higher involement entry modes tended to have better management performances. The availability of labours, the feasibility of lowing costs and the adoption of differentiation strategy seems to be among the key success factors for the firms overseas investments. |
