英文摘要 | Until now, there are totally three design methods available for bridge engineers for designing the steel highway bridges, namely, Working Stress Design (WSD), Load Factor Design (LFD) and Autostress Design (ASD). The Autostress Design is also called Alternate Load Factor Design (ALFD) by the AASHTO (American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials). The present paper is a review, summary and comparison of these three design methods. The basic design philosophies and design key points will be clearly laid out, the differences between the design assumptions and design procedures will also be clearly shown so that the bridge engineers will be able to tell the real differences among these three design methods according to the AASHTO standard bridge design specifications in the conceptual and design stage. |
