中文摘要 | 胡賽爾(Edmund Husserl 1859-1938)的現象學原是以反對心理主義(psy- chologism)與轉化自然態度為起點的,他的意義理論亦然。「意義」問題在經驗 心理主義與自然實證主義的立場看來,全然取決於心理經驗、感覺內容,即語詞、 語句是否「意義」有端視其否有與之相應的感覺事實而定。根據這種意義規準, 不僅許多形上概念與語句論為空蕩無意義的 語,許多科學邏輯的抽象概念,文學 想像的虛構事體也成了荒謬無意義的妄作。胡賽爾透過現象學的描寫與分析,掘發 意義的主體意議結構與客體理想性(objective ideality),可謂結合康德超驗哲 學與柏拉圖實在論(Platonic Realism)的大膽嘗試。經過他的努力「意義」不但 取得更深刻的內容,也收復了許多為自然實證主義掠奪的失地。本文將就胡賽爾早 期意義理論的發展,說明其在現代意義理論上的貢獻。 |
英文摘要 | Husserl's theory of meaning, following the train of his philosophical development, has taken its starting poing on anti-psychologism, anti-naive-natural attitude, and therefore, anti-positivism. Against the positivistic vogue of his time, which vests meaning purely with an empirical, psychological taint and equals it with sense perceptions or psychical contents, Husserl attempts a drastically different viewpoint a phenomenological one--to explore the rational elements in "meaning." For the positivists, a term or a sentence, if not an analytic proposition or a part of it, only makes sense when there is a corresponding empirical fact to it. By the so-called meaning criterion, many metaphysical concepts or principles are dismissed as empty words or nonsense that without any cognitive meaning. The strict empirical meaning criterion wven challenges some scientific hypotheses and logical principles as meaningless. While for Husserl, the positivists have not only detracted the territiory of meaning but also degraded the quality of meaning. He believes that by phenomenological description and itentional analysis we can explore the subjective structure of meaning eonsciousness and the objective ideality of meaning itsefl, which seems to be an introduction to the conjugation of Kantian transcendentalism and Platonic Realism. The present paper attempts to trace the early development of Husserl's meaning theory, from the period of logical psychologism (the Philosophy of Arithmetic) to the beginning of transcendental phenomenology (the Ideas), and sees its significance in founding a solid meaning theory. |
