英文摘要 | In this work, three Kuroshio-inundated marine environments around Taiwan, the Kuroshio proper, southern East China Sea (SECS) and northern South China Sea (NSCS), were compared to characterize the role played by the Kuroshio in the formation of fishing grounds. The Kuroshio is a major current in the North Pacific Ocean. It surface water is characterized by depleted nutrients and a low density of plankton organisms: hence, fishery production is expected to be minimal. The sub-surface water contains much of the nutrients; therefore greater production of fish is expected in local areas of Kuroshio-triggered upwelling. Zooplankton-ichthyoplankton conversions adopted exhibit apparent area productivity. Although fishery production is estimated to be minimal in the Kuroshio maximum converersion of zooplankton to early-staged fish occurs in the Kuroshio area. Approximately twenty pelagic fish, such as dolphinfish, tuna, mackerel, marlin and shark, were determined to be capable of local fishery development. Some fishery biological data are retrievable for the basis for population investigation. Further stock assessment is strongly recommended. |
