中文摘要 | 佛教文化乃中國文化的主流之一,自東漢明帝時輸入中土之後,歷經魏、晉南北 朝迄唐、宋兩代,達到最盛期,在此過程中,對漢民族思想啟迪產生了深遠的影響,使中國 人在儒、道信仰之外,又添加了外來的文化激素,姑不論它在中國思想史上造成如何的沖擊 ,其至要者,乃在歷代人們心靈接受佛教薰陶之後,所得到的法喜充滿,基於它的救世精神 ,著重事理圓融,以方便妙法遂行其嚴土熟生的淑世功德。因此佛教藝術中種種的經典儀軌 ,乃至民間傳說中的顯應事跡、時代精神背景,以及外來的影響種種,皆成了大乘佛教普渡 眾生的方便法門,是以吾人在研究佛教行儀中,最為燴炙人口的觀音信仰時,便深深的體悟 到唐、宋以還菩薩的法相演成前所未有的變化,由男相轉變為女相,乃是大乘圓融思想包融 性的發揮。茲先依據佛教經典所載,對男女相的緣起,作概略分說,復擷錄歷代學者諸種見 解,而後擬就唐代的開放思想,宋代的理想主義,以及印度笈多美術等三方面的影響進行探 討,俾逐一說明,觀音菩薩如何從佛經記載中的男相,搖身一變成了人間化嫵媚的女相。 |
英文摘要 | Buddhism, transmitted into China at the emperor Ming of the Eastern Han dynasty, is one main stream of Chinese culture. Through the development of the Wei and Jin, the South and North, Buddhism reached the prime in Tang and Song dynasties. In the meanwhile, Buddhism had a deep and far influence on the enlightenment of Han people's thinking, adding an extrinsic stimulus to Chinese culture in addition to Confucianism and Tasiam. To leave the strike on Chinese philosophy aside, the most important is that people through the ages, with their heart edified, got overflowing enjoyment from the Pharma. Buddhist spirit of worldsaving is based on the unity of the theory and reality, benefiting the mundane world with all possible ways. Consequently, the sutras, rites, legendary accomplishments, backgrounds, and extrinsic effect all become the ways of Mahuyana Buddhism to generally save the beings. Thus, when it comes to studying the most widely spread belief of Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara, I deeply understand that the transformation of forms from male to female, which precedes the forms of Bodhisattvasm Tang and Song dynasties, is the development of comprehensive thinking of Mahuyana. First, the thesis will generally describe the causality of the male and female forms recorded in the sutras. Second, I will pick the opinions of scholars through the ages, and then make a research on the comprehensive mind of Tang dynasty, the idealism of Song dynasty, and the Gupta arts in India, so as to explain how Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara transformed from a male form recorded in Sutras to a lovely female form. |
