英文摘要 | The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of dietary calcium/phosphorus (Ca/P) ratio and protein levels on bone loss in aged rats. Forty twofemale, 12 month old Long-Evans rats were divided randomly into 6 groups. Two protein levels (NRC and 3NRC) and three Ca/P ratios (NRC:NRC, 1/3 NRC:NRC and 1/3 NRC:3 NRC) and a control group were interlaced into 6 different diets for 8 months. The analyzed results of femur density, dry fat-free boneweight, bone ash content, cortical thickness and mineral contents in rats showedthat long term consumption of low calcium, high phosphorus and high proteindiet promoted the rate of bone loss. The low calcium and high phosphorusintake at normal dietary protein level also reduced femur breaking load and cortical thickness significantly. Femur cross section showed that aging was accompained by bone loss, but low calcium and high phosphorus diet induced bone lossmore severely. Increased dietary protein level apparently did not affect bone resorption. This study demonstrated that low calcium intake plus high phosphorus intake might enhance bone loss and destructed bone tissue in aged femalerats. |
