| 英文摘要 | To reduce the radiation level contributed by the cobalt-based hardfac-ing materials in the valves, replacement with low cobalt (or non cobalt)based alloys is considered. This cobalt replacement program includescobalt-containing valve identification, cobalt quantity calculation,alternate material selection, spare parts' procurement and replacement.In order to evaluate the applicability and practicability of thisprogram, this project first reviews available research results andpast plant experience. The evaluation will assist Taipower in decidingwhether to adopt cobalt reduction program. In addition to the industrial survey, the work scope of thistwo-year project consists of the following items, 1. Identificationof cobalt containing valves which contribute cobalt release into reactorcore in the Chinshan plant, 2. Quantification of cobalt contribution fromall the above valves, 3. Comparison on the wear resistance of non-cobaltalloys with cobalt-based alloys in the simulated BWR environments. This report describes the results obtained in the first year. Asummary of this report is as follows. A United States industry survey of alternate materials for CoCr valveseat hardfacing application has been completed. Additionally, review ofEPRI reports, industry publications and efforts made by other utilitieswas also made. These informations concluded that, the nuclear industriesclearly understand the benefits of cobalt reduction in valves. However,it appears that valves and valve parts will only be replaced on a"degradation conditions" basis. |
