中文摘要 | 本文為探討臺灣木乃伊柯象的製成及其歷史流轉,採取「從物論史」和「物件的歷史」兩種物質文化研究取向。就木乃伊柯象物件本身,本研究主要發現是:木乃伊外觀呈「端坐」形式,顯示是以民間宗教的神像被製成;而且,木乃伊現存的幾套衣物,證實物件存在的年代可上溯至晚清、1880年代初,以及當時存置的空間場域是蘆竹後莊(今日的雲林大埤)的玄天上帝廟。另、大多數的歷史文獻指向:木乃伊的身分姓名為「柯象」,年齡約30多歲,以人為的乾燥法製成,以及生前曾發生與玄天上帝有關的神蹟,使其成為玄天上帝的化身。其次,木乃伊柯象製成至今,歷經百年的歷史流轉,並深繫臺灣近代歷史的脈動。在1912年台人抗日的土庫事件之中,木乃伊扮演啟發宗教信仰與行動,以及引發殖民當局警戒之作用;其中,除證實物件在歷史中的能動性之外,也說明木乃伊的社會生命承載了臺灣人的抗日史,深化這物件所蘊含的文化價值。 |
英文摘要 | To explore why Taiwan mummy "Ko Hsiang" was made of and its history, this paper applies two approaches of the study of material culture including those of "history from things" and" history of things". First, as the object itself, the main findings of this study are follows. The appearance of the mummy is in the form of "sitting", indicating that it was made into a folk religious statue. Moreover, the existing sets of the mummy's clothes, confirm the existence of the object can be traced back to the late Qing era, the early 1880s, and the main space at the time kept by the temple of Shan-Tien God at Lu-Chuk-Kok Chong (Yunlin、Dapi, today). In addition, most of the historical documents confirm, the identity of the mummy's name is "Ko Hsiang", his age about 30 more years old, and the method of the mummy-made was drying artificially. And he had been due to take place some miracles related with the God, so that he became the incarnate of Shan-Tien God. Secondly, until nowadays, the mummy had experienced a century Journey away from home, and deeply engaged in Taiwan's modern history. In particular, among the Tuku Incident in 1912 when Taiwan local people resisted against Japanese colonial government, the mummy played a role to inspire local people religious enthusiasm and action, and induce the colonial authorities to alert the effects of it caused by. This historical event indicates that the mummy has its historical agency not only, the social life of the mummy was also carrying the anticolonial history of Taiwan. In contrast, this history also deepens cultural values inherent in this object. |
