| 英文摘要 | Deep-well injection is a leading technology for disposing of hazardous liquid waste. Hydrogeologic conditions play an important role in the selection. of an injection site. It is essential that the injection zone be a thick, extensive, porous and permeable brine aquifer. The overlying confining formation should be extensive in area and low in permeability. To assess the feasibility of hydrogeologic setting, a contaminant transport model was established to investigate the migration of injected waste. Results indicate that the migration of injected waste is essentially lateral within the injection zone. Meanwhile, a minor amount of waste migrates upward through defective cement around the casing or the disturbed zone near the wellbore. The immediate overlying aquifer can bleed off most of the waste migrating upward, as can permeable interbeds in the confining formation. But a thick confining formation of low-permeability does not have the capability of diverting upward migrated waste. These findings indicate that under suitable hydrogeologic conditions containment of the injected waste well below fresh water aquifers is possible. Ground water monitoring wells, however, should be installed for detecting waste migration to enhance confidence in long-term containment of the injected waste in deep brine aquifers. |
