英文摘要 | Seasonal spore abundance of the vesicular-arbuscular mycorrhizalfungus (VAMF) Gigaspora gigantea in four different stages of healthin a coastal sand dune in Rhode Island was studied. Stages included:(1) newly formed, greenish-yellow healthy spores, (II) greenish-yellowto yellow brown unhealthy spores, mottled with brown spots, (III)dead, blackened and collapsed spores, (IV) spores invaded by othermicroorganisms including other VAMF spores. The sand dune wassampled monthly from March, 1989, to February, 1990. Healthyspores were most abundant in winter and least abundant in summer. An opposite trend was found for unhealthy spores and dead spores.Variation in abundance of healthy spores, unhealthy spores and deadspores demonstrated highly significant seasonal trends (P=0.0001),but no significant seasonal trend was evident for the invaded spores. The total number of spores of G. gigantea in the dune was fairlyconstant throughout the year. These results suggest that the healthyspores were not being removed in large numbers from the sand duneby animal activity. The decline in healthy spore populations in thedunes appears to be due to natural aging and death of the spores orto losses to parasitic soil microorganisms. The longevity of spores infour stages was estimated; spores in stage I persisted a maximum of1.1 years in the dunes, the stage II was 1.8 years and of stage III,3.7 years. |
