中文摘要 | 語言教學專家早在十九世紀末即已提分折衷教學法的呼籲。一九七O 年代中葉,學界指出教學方法已然出現一種折衷的趨向,教師往往選擇各種教法 中最佳的技巧,混合運用。然而國內英語教學界卻鮮見論及。本文旨在探討我國 中等學校普遍採用的折衷教學法。文中首先指出教材、教學觀摩、以及教案中即 已常見使用折衷教學法的現象。其次,本文簡述折衷教學法潮流的歷史沿革,並 指出採用此法的一些緣由。按著,本文提出一些折衷法的基本概念及兩個理想的 方法轉換點。最後,本文並對國中英語教師提出建議,以改進其英語教學。 |
英文摘要 | Language educators have long reported a trend towardeclecticism in language teaching methodology, choosing whatappears to be the best from diverse sources, systems or stylessince the mid-1970's (e.g., Newton 1980; Tang 1977; Huang1986). However, such a tendency is scarcely discussed in thecircle of local professionals who are teaching English as aforeign language (TEFL). This paper investigates the currentpragmatic trend to adopt the Eclectic Method in Taiwan'ssecondary school English classrooms. It first argues for theexistence of such an eclecticism in textbooks, teachingdemonstrations, and teaching plans in Taiwan's junior highschools. Then, it looks into the historical development ofthis trend. After that, it provides reasons for which such amethod is used. Moreover, some basic concepts of the EclecticMethod are postulated and two ideal spots for methodologicalshift are discussed. Finally, recommendations for junior highschool English teachers are suggested. |
