英文摘要 | The sever is a critical component of the high gain gyrotron traveling wave tube (gyroTWT). General characteristics of the sever and methods for its optimization are studied bythe application of WKB method to a lossy waveguide structure of slowly varying crosssection. Analytic solutions of the reflection and transmission coefficients for the case of auniform sever are obtained by the multiple reflection/transmission method and verified byan independent boundary value problem approach. Physical properties of the uniform severcan be understood from the principle of superposition of electromagnetic waves. For practical applications, it is shown that the addition of tapered sections to the ends of the uniform sever can greatly improve the wave absorption capability, as is demonstrated in detailby numerical calculutions. Methods for optimizing the sever configuration are also discussed and illustrated. |
