| 英文摘要 | Coin is one of the most important tools in business exchange process. In addition to the existing four coins of NT$ 10, 5, 1, and 0.5, a new version of NT$ 50 coin is planned to be introduced in 1992. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the discriminability of NT$ 50 with the existing coin system. Two laboratory experiments were conducted in this study. In Experiment I, 18 male and 12 female college students performed both sighted and blind touch trials of discrimination in all four coin combinations (formed by NT$ 10,5,1,0.5; previous version NT$ 10,1; and bus token) to test search times needed and error rate committed. Data analysis showed that NT$ 1 is the worst in error rate of blind trials, and easily confused with NT$ 5 and 0.5. In Experiment 11, the subjects (15 males and 2 females), grouped by a within-subjects design, were asked to sort out the following sets of coins mixture by blind touch, former NT$ 5 / NT$ 10, former NT$ 1 / NT$ 10, former NT$ 1 / NT$ 5, NT$ 5 / NT$ 1, NT$ 1 / NT$ 0.5. The results showed that: (1) The sorting of NT$ 5 / NT$ 1 mixture takes the time longest; (2) There is a negative correlation between error rate and diameter ratio; when diameter ratio is larger than 1.10, the error rate reduces significantly; and (3) Thickness ratio is also an important coded dimension in blind coin discriminability; when thickness ratio is larger than 150/0, the error rate, too, reduces significantly. According to these findings, the researchers conclude that NT$ 50 will be well discriminable from the other existing coins, especially its thickness greater than NT$ 10's about 44%. |
