英文摘要 | A numerical scheme. based on the boundary integral equation formulation is used to study the scattering effects due to the geometric irregularities of a subsurface structure. This scheme is applied to a two-dimensional earth model derived from a geological cross-section of an alluvial plain over which the SMART-1 array is located. The scattering effects due to an input of plane SH waves with frequencies ranging from 0 to 0.45 Hz are examined. The medium response and the ground motions for both surface and at depth sites due to a Ricker wavelet are calculated. Results show that the medium response at a site is strongly dependent on the incident angle of the plane waves and the thickness of the alluvium beneath the station. The spatial variation of the medium response is appreciable and becomes very significant when the wavelength approaches the characteristic dimension of irregularities. The maximum amplification factor for the cases considered reaches 3.5 times larger than the surface amplification of a half-space medium. For larger depth the ground motion becomes progressively smaller than that of surface observations. |
