英文摘要 | The present study was performed to assess the effects of ambient temperature on the induction of exercise-induced heat stroke in the rat and the beneficial effect of fluid replacement on this model. Normal rats exercised on a motor-driven treadmill at ambient temperature of 37℃ reached a state of heat stroke in 47.5 minutes while the rectal temperature was elevated up to 42.2℃. The motility rate was 64%. When the ambient temperature was reduced to 32℃, the time to reach heat stroke was relatively longer (97.0 min) while the rectal temperature was comparable (41.9℃). However, all rats were alive. Oral supplement with 5% glucose or 0.1% NaCl solution before exercise significantly reduced the motility rate and improved the work performance. These results suggest that the rat model is suitable for study of heat stroke and that the beneficial effect of fluid replacement and temperature-dependent variations in the survival rate exist in this rat model of heat stroke. |
