中文摘要 | β-endorphin為一種腦下垂體前葉所分泌荷爾蒙β-Lipotropin之氨基酸結構,含有methionine-enkephalin為首的最後31個氨基酸所組成的一般胜肽(β-Lipotropin 61-91),具有高活性類似鴉片之功能。在以往的多項研究中均指出此物質可能與精神分裂病之病因有關。本院以11例典型之精神分裂病患者,合乎美國精神疾病分類第三版(DSM-III)之診斷要點。以每天600-800毫克之chlorpromazine治療六週,於治療前後分別抽取其腦脊髓液測定β-endorphin之量。結果發現在治療前(25.95±2.38pg/ml)雖較症狀明顯改善之治療後(20.70±3.41 pg/ml)為高,但未達顯著之統計意義(t=1.27 N.S.)。顯示類似有關的研究仍須進一步的探討。 |
英文摘要 | β-endorphin is a brain peptides with close relation to the anterior pituitary hormoneβ-Lipotropin. The sequence of methionini-enkaphalin is contained within the β-Lipotropin at position 61 through 65. The C-fragement ofβ-Lipotropin (including Methionineenkaphalin) was shown to have opiated-like effect of high affinity and was calledβ-endorphin (β-Lipotropin 61-91). Some of previovs studies showed that such substance was possibly related to the causes of schizophrenia. However, there was no definite evidence. Eleven cases of typical schizophrenic inpatients were diagnosed according to Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of mental Disorders, third edition (DSM-III). For six weeks, the treatment was conducted on these patients by using 600mg-800mg chlorpromazine daily, and their CSF was taken respectively before and after treatment to determine the quantity ofβ-endorphin (Radioimmunoassay). The results showed that before treatment the content ofβ-endorphin (25.95±2.38 pg/ml) was higher than that of post treatment (20.70±3.41 pg/ml), and that psychotic symptoms were much improved following treatment. Having reviewed literature, we found many controversial results aboutβ-endorphin research: both deficiency and excess ofβ-endorphin were reported to be causes of schizophrenia. Besides, β-endorphin is related to another neurotransmitters (Dopamine etc.) and neuromodulators (Prolactin, Prostaglandin E etc). Although the difference has not reached the significant level of statistics (t=1.27 N.S.) in this study of CSFβ-endorphin in schizophreniz, the necessity of further researches on this field with larger sample and better controls is certainly indicated. |
