英文摘要 | Book selection is like anthology compiling: it is no creation in the ordinary sense, but is not mere gathering of materials either; the "editorship" has its own academic quality. Highly professional and scholastic as this aspect of library service should be, a sound, profound, and widely-based theoretical system is mandatory. Hereby exemplifies when where and how principles of book selection are to be "contemplated" in terms of communicative, social, psychological, and especially philosophical doctrines. The primary argument is that library collection is an ever growing organism; building library collection is hence to be practiced in accordance with the essence and traits of an organism which is viewed in the light of, mainly, "systems philosophy," and is associated with Joseph Nitecki's theory of "metalibrarianship" |
