英文摘要 | The energy efficiency, defined as ηa (H₂ Nm³/kwh), of the conventional H₂SO₄-water electrolysis process is 40% less than the efficiencyηb of the NaOH-water electrolysis system. If an appropriate amount of sulfur powder (e.g., 5g/250 c.c.) was added to the anode compartment of the H₂SO₄-water electrolysis cell at 2V, 60℃, the anode oxygen evolution reaction was replaced by sulfur electrodic oxidation reaction and the energy efficiency ηas of the sulfur-assisted H₂SO₄-water electrolysis system was improved over 70%. This efficiency ηas is slightly better than the NaOH-water electrolysis efficiency ηb. On the contrary, the addition of sulfur to alkaline electrolysis solution resulted in the decrease of energy efficiency due to the complicated electrochemical and chemical side reactions. |
