英文摘要 | The objective of this experiment conducted at Taiwan Livestock Research Institute was to study the effect of feeding petroleum yeast which was produced by Chia Yi Solvent Work of Chinese Petroleum Corporation as the protein supplement with two levels (15% versus 30%) and two physical forms (meal versus pellet) on growth rate, feed conversion of the broiler chicks and dressing percentage, nutrient content of its carcasses. Three hundred day-old broiler chicks were divided into five groups on the basis of sex and live weight of 60 heads each group. The chicks in group A received coybean fish protein source for control ration. Group B Ration containing 15% of petroleum yeast meal, Group C. Ration containing 30% of petroleum yeast meal, Group D Ration containing 15% of petroleum yeast pellets. Group E Ration containing 30% of petroleum yeast pellets. Each ration of the five groups had the same crude protein content. Body weight of each chick was collected at intervals of two weeks throughout eight weeks of the feeding trial, feed consumption records were also kept on a pen basis, At the completion of the feeding trial, Three males andthree females form each group were sacrificed for carcass study. Dressing percentage of the broilers and nutrient content of muscle tissues of its carcasses were determined. The results wer given in tables 2 to 7 respectively. The data indicated that the growth rate and feed conversion of the broilers were improved when the petroleum yeast was fed with pellet form in comparison with meal form at the same level of the diets. This result is in agreement with that of Waldrouf (1971) reported in Arkansas recently. It also showed there was no ill effect on dressing percentage and carcass nutrient content of the broilers when fifteen percent to thirty percent of the experimental yeast either with meal or pellets in the diets were used. |
