| 英文摘要 | In this cross-sectional study, the speech patterns of five Chinese children were examined with a focus on the types oferrors occurring at their respective ages and on the average length of utterance. Each child's speech was electronically taped during natural conversations with their parents. These tapes were then transcribed using the Yale system of romanization of Chinese. The youngest child, 14 months of age, provided too little speech for purposes of analysis. The remaining four children showed a remarkable absence oferrors involving word order. Tonal errors appeared to decrease markedly with age. Sentence length appeared as aconsistently increasing function of age for the age range examined. Mean length of utterance (MLU) ranged from 2.5morphemes for the 24-month old child to 7.7 morphemes forthe 32-month-old. These data are quite similar to those obtained from American children of similar ages. |
