| 英文摘要 | During the Qing Dynasty, the Eight Banners were governed differently from regular imperial subjects. The banners are often regarded as a close - knit community, and banner people as an important historical antecedent for the contemporary Manchu ethnicity (Manzu). However, the ethnic identity within the banners varied across different regions. For example, in Shengjing, individuals belonging to the three niru of the Imperial Household Department (neiwufu san zuoling) were mainly composed of Han, but they identified themselves as Suiqi ren, a distinct identity between the Manchus and regular imperial subjects. This regional distinction was also evident in the Guangzhou Garrison. The bannermen of the Guangzhou Garrison did not trace their ancestry back to the ethnic composition of the banners before conquering the Central Plains (zhongyuan), nor did they develop a concept of a unified, integrated banner population. Conversely, they divided themselves into separate Manchu and Han niru within the banner. Over time, the Manchu of the Eight Banner (Baqi Manzhou) came to identify as the Manchu ethnicity, while the Hanjun identified as the Han ethnicity (Hanzu). These separate ethnic identities are not the product of modern revolutions, but concepts that have been gradually formed by Manchu and Han bannermen during the Qing, the degree of indigenous cultural influence since the Qing, the political environment, group psychology and other factors. |
