| 英文摘要 | This study investigates the changes in Taiwan's key value-added industries and overall value added performance during the US-China trade war. It utilizes data on products imported by the United States from China and their corresponding values from 2017 to 2024, alongside OECD Trade in value-added (TiVA) data. The analysis calculates the proportion of Taiwan's value added by industry within the trade flows between the United States and China over the period from 2017 to 2024. Furthermore, to assess Taiwan's competitiveness in relation to its major export products to the United States, the study employs the Revealed Comparative Advantage (RCA) index to evaluate Taiwan’s relative competitive strength compared with the competing nations. The findings indicate that among Taiwan's top four value-added industries, the "Manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products" sector has experienced a slight decline in the proportion of value added in recent years but continues to be a dominant industry. The "Manufacture of Electrical Equipment" sector has shown an upward trend in both value added and its share of total value. In contrast, the "Manufacture of textiles, wearing apparel, leather and related products" and "Manufacture of Machinery and Equipment" sectors have experienced a decline in value added. Regarding trade competitiveness, Taiwan stands as a primary supplier to the United States for products such as "Computer Components," "Servers," and "Graphics Cards," with an RCA significantly higher than all other competing countries, indicating a robust competitive edge. However, Taiwan’s RCA for products like "Processors" and "Routers" is lower in comparison to its competitors. |
