| 英文摘要 | This study establishes a cross-platform analytical method for examining the dynamic behaviors of character controllers in platform action games. Velocity curves are employed as quantitative and visual analytic tools to investigate the dynamic characteristics of character movement and jumping behavior. Expert interviews were first conducted to identify key factors influencing the game feel of character controllers, which informed the selection of eight representative platformer titles as case studies. Character displacement time series were constructed through frame-by-frame data extraction, followed by unit normalization to reconcile differences in screen resolution and character proportions across titles. Instantaneous velocity was then calculated to generate velocity curves, enabling comparative analysis of movement rhythm, acceleration patterns, action transitions, and jump trajectories. The results reveal distinct variations in acceleration rhythm, top-speed attainment, and transition types across the examined titles. These differences reflect intentional design choices regarding operational rhythm and gameplay positioning, which align consistently with each title’s animation performance and spatial interaction patterns. This study demonstrates that velocity curves provide an effective observational lens for understanding the dynamic properties and game feel of character controllers, facilitating cross-title comparison of rhythmic design at the operation layer of play experience. The proposed method addresses the current lack of quantitative tools for numerical-level controller analysis in existing literature and provides a methodological foundation for future game design analysis, development practices, and academic research. |
