| 英文摘要 | The 1894 Hong Kong plague brought a profound shock to the imperial colonial system, exposing the deep-seated issues that had been concealed within the colonies. Among these issues were the racial antagonism and segregation between the colonizers and the Chinese, as well as the contradictions inherent within imperialism, which simultaneously highlighted the cultural identity crisis faced by the colonizers. The Chinese postcolonial writer Shi Shuqing and the French travel writer Patrick Deville both used this major epidemic as the backdrop for their novels, exploring the cultural identity crisis and the process of identity formation of European colonizers in a "diasporic" state in the face of the plague. This process reveals the close relationship between subject identity and their existential circumstances. Due to the unique diasporic situation in the colonies, colonial subjects on both sides constantly produced new identities in heterogeneous conditions, which interacted with and overlapped with other identities, forming a polyphonic structure of cultural identity. This resulted in widespread psychological symptoms of alienation among the colonizers. In the postmodern era, the diasporic state of the colonial period is becoming a global and historical event, making the construction of identity in the postcolonial period a universally significant issue. |
