| 英文摘要 | This article starts with the understanding of the academic community about the "popularization" process of Confucianism in Taiwan, delving into the complex historic significance of the so-called "popularization" issue. It takes the Taipei Chong-sheng Society established in 1918 as the core, starting with pointing out the historic significance of the "popularization" of its activities in the evolution of Confucian rituals in Taiwan based on documentary materials. It then explains the close relationship between the society and the classical Han poetry tradition, preaching tradition, and even the gentry-merchant class. Subsequently, this article utilizes relational databases and social network analysis software to include various social organizations in which the society's committee members participated for comparison. It not only compares the relationship between the Chong-sheng Society and various organizations but also compares the relationships among hundreds of other organizations in this network. In other words, it observes the characteristics of this social network by examining the degree to which organizations collectively recruit committee members from the Chong-sheng Society as members. The analysis emphasizes that among the organizations with a higher degree of shared membership with the Chong-sheng Society, the social position of the Chong-sheng Society is indeed quite close to that of literary or cultural conservative groups. However, the importance of official or political organizations is even higher than that. Moreover, from the perspective of the entire network, organizations around Dadaocheng that directly influence the social economy or people's lives, such as industrial and commercial, financial, and moral education organizations, are the real driving forces maintaining the Chong-sheng Society's social network. Furthermore, in this context, by comparing the Ying Poetry Society and the Taisho Association, which were previously considered the two pillars of the Chong-sheng Society, it becomes apparent that the social attributes of the Taisho Association are more closely aligned with those of the Chong-sheng Society. Thus, the contribution of this article lies in using social network analysis to highlight that although the Chong-sheng Society presents itself as a Confucian organization, its social functions in the political and even economic fields at the time were more significant than in the religious or cultural fields. |
