| 英文摘要 | Background: Success in competitive tennis is often determined by a player's ball velocity, stroke accuracy, and sport-specific physical fitness. Functional training is an emerging and highly regarded training modality that emphasizes specificity and the simulation of sport-specific movements, aiming to directly transfer training benefits into enhanced athletic performance. Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the effects of a short-term functional training program on the stroke performance and sport-specific physical fitness of collegiate tennis players. Methods: Fifteen collegiate Division II tennis players were recruited and assigned to either an experimental group (n=10) or a control group (n=5). The experimental group participated in an eight-week functional training program, while the control group maintained their regular training regimen. Pre- and post-intervention assessments were conducted for all participants, measuring ball velocity and accuracy of running groundstrokes from the baseline, as well as sport-specific physical fitness indicators including the 10-meter sprint, T-test agility, and medicine ball throw distance. Results: After the eight-week intervention, the experimental group showed significant improvements in sprint speed, change-of-direction agility, and total-body rotational power. However, no significant changes were observed in their forehand and backhand groundstroke velocity or accuracy from the baseline. Conclusion: Short-term functional training can effectively enhance the sportspecific physical fitness of tennis players; however, its direct benefits on stroke performance were not evident in this study. In accordance with the Specific Adaptation to Imposed Demands (SAID) principle, it is recommended that future interventions consider extending the training duration and adjusting the load and specificity of exercises to provide sufficient physiological stimulus and promote the coordination of the kinetic chain from the lower body to the trunk. The integration of functional training into regular tennis training regimens is recommended to enhance the foundational sport-specific physical capabilities of players. |
