| 中文摘要 | 在台灣,大部分民眾的信仰呈現一種佛教、道教以及民間信仰 混雜的狀態,佛教與道教為了要更加融入地方,吸引更多的信徒加 入,因而演變至今而有不同的方便法門。自印度傳入中國的佛教, 早已與初成立時有很大的不同,這樣的現象,在觀世音菩薩的身上 可以很明顯的看到。觀世音菩薩不管在中國或是在台灣,都是深得 人心的信仰對象,在大大小小的寺廟中,都可以見到觀音菩薩的身 影,從民間所流傳著的「戶戶彌陀佛,家家觀世音」這句話即可看 出,信仰觀世音菩薩的信眾非常的普遍。觀世音菩薩的大慈大悲與 救苦救難娑婆眾生,從《妙法蓮華經•觀世音菩薩普門品》中所言 的「一心稱念即可得救」即是此一方便法門,觀世音菩薩的名號普 遍流傳,似乎只要稱念觀世音菩薩的名號,所有的一切苦難都會被 消除殆盡,進而使祈求者如願以償。 佛教本身並不特別注重神通,自然也就不會重視靈驗與否,從 佛教的理論系統來說,其信仰本身之證成就是一種理性的思考,是 一門強調實踐的學問。而其修行所該重視的是如何透過修行,也就 是理論的實踐,以達到「開悟」、達於「涅槃」的境界,而這種境界, 是無法藉由他力來完成,必須靠自己本身對於「理」的理解,並且 去實踐、修行,才有辦法達到開悟明心見性。本文之作,乃試從佛 教之「理」方面加以探討,對此台灣觀世音菩薩之信仰的普遍性與 俗世化,深入地探討何以如此之緣由。 |
| 英文摘要 | In Taiwan, belief of most people presents a status of mixed Buddhism, Taoism, and folk belief, within which Buddhism and Taoism, for integrating more in local and attracting more believers to join, evolved to the present to have different convenient method. Buddhism being introduced from India to China, it has been very different early from first establishment, of which this phenomenon, in the belief of Guanshiyin Pusa, can be seen very obviously. Guanshiyin Pusa, whether in China or in Taiwan, is the popular object of belief, of which Guanyin Pusa are seen in many large and small temples, in which a spreading folklore saying of “Mituofo in every household, Guanshiyin in every family” can be perceived with extremely widespread followers of belief in Guanshiyin Pusa. With Guanshiyin Pusa’s great mercy and great compassion, helping the needy and relieving the distressed, to saha beings, in “Book of The Wonderful Dharma Lotus Flower Sutra, Chapter Twenty-five, The Universal Door of Gwan Shr Yin Bodhisattva” saying, “one who recites His name single-mindedly will be rescued immediately”, it is therefore a convenient method, in which the name of Guanshiyin Pusa widely spreads and seemingly that one only recites His name all of whose suffering will be eliminated to none so as to the prayer ’s wish fulfilled. Buddhism itself is not particularly focused on supernatural powers, nor it is naturally emphasized in whether effectiveness or not, in which from the view of Buddhism’s theoretical system the justification of belief itself is a rational thinking and a practice-emphasized learning. Cultivation itself is to emphasize in how to learn from cultivation, which in term is the practice of theory, to achieve “enlightenment”, to the status of “nirvana”, for which it is impossible to complete by others and it must be relied on him himself to the understanding of “truth”, therefore, to practice and cultivate in order to achieving enlightenment and consciousness. This study hence is an essay from the point of the “truth” of Buddhism to deeply explore why in Taiwan the belief in Guanshiyin Pusa is very popular and so mundane. |
