| 英文摘要 | According to the periodization traditionally employed in Western music history, Beethoven is categorized as a master composer who "summarized the Classical era and inaugurated the Romantic era." However, based on the author's years of immersion in music and art, as well as a fundamental understanding of Western art history, the direct alignment of music history with art or painting history—merely by approximate chronological periods—lacks a fully convincing theoretical foundation, whether considered from the composers' backgrounds, the essential characteristics of their works, or the overarching values they embody. This article will briefly explore the significant stylistic evolution and key connections between Beethoven's piano works and symphonies and the so-called "Baroque," "Classical," and "Romantic" periods in art history. On one hand, the aim is to clarify the author's long-standing doubts on this matter; on the other, it seeks to invite discussion among readers and even experts. Most importantly, the article strives to present the stylistic traits of works and composers— as well as conventional periodization in cultural, art, and music history—in a way that is accessible to general readers while maintaining accurate and substantiated arguments in both essence and direction. Given the vast and diverse body of Beethoven's works, this article will focus solely on his piano compositions and symphonies, providing clear and systematic examples and arguments for analysis. |
