| 英文摘要 | Far Eastern Electronic Toll Collection Co., Ltd. (FETC), a company specializing in electronic toll collection systems, is facing the challenge of transitioning from traditional ETC services to a broader range of vehicle economy services. This case study applies the “digital business models” and “dual transformation” frameworks to explore how the company can maintain its core business while exploring new growth opportunities amidst the impact of digital technologies. Through in-depth analysis, we found that FETC needs to strengthen specific core competencies, such as data analytics and user experience design, to incentivize the participation of complementors in constructing a digital ecosystem. Additionally, organizational restructuring is necessary to facilitate synergy effects between new and existing businesses. The problem analysis reveals that FETC’s transformation process involves not only technological changes but also the reshaping of organizational culture and management strategies. An important managerial insight is that FETC must maintain the stability of its existing ETC business while transferring core competencies and resources to support the development of new ventures. The success of this transformation process could bring new growth opportunities for FETC and potentially serve as a model for other traditional companies undergoing transformation. This study suggests that past transformation experiences and accumulated capabilities may enable the organization to respond more proactively to new challenges. However, cultivating new abilities and adjusting organizational operations are also crucial to achieving new objectives. |
