| 英文摘要 | It is crucial to improve nursing students' patient interview skills to prepare them to face challenges in their future workplace, yet traditional teaching strategies often yield unsatisfactory results. Virtual Patients (VPs) can be utilized for training in patients' medical history inquiry or communication between nurses and patients. Research Design: This study uses virtual patients to conduct a clinical course on medical history inquiry among nursing students, reports its steps, observes the progress of the course; analyzes the venue, software and hardware equipment while records the manpower required to measure time and equipment costs. The course was conducted in groups, with teachers acting as facilitators and students as nurses. Virtual patients presented their symptoms and interacted with the students using natural language during medical history inquires. Costs include the products, sites, software, hardware, manpower and time, as reported back with qualitative analysis results. Results: Among the 126 nursing students who participated in 18 sessions, students actively engaged in the one-hour courses, showing interest in active learning. Both students and teachers felt relaxed and pleasant. The cost of the virtual patient training system was merely on software rental fees, while the standardized patient model incurred no hardware or software expenses but required significant manpower and time. Conclusion and Discussion: The initial installation cost of the virtual patient system is relatively high, but it offers various functions that traditional education cannot achieve. Whether it truly saves costs depends on the users' ability to utilize the unique features of the virtual simulation technology and how to use it wisely. |
