| 英文摘要 | Purpose: This study aims to investigate whether the physical activity expenditure and the sedentary behavior duration moderate the effects of acute aerobic exercise on planning-related executive function in older adults. Method: Sixty older adults (mean age: 70.3 years) were divided into four groups based on their levels of physical activity expenditure and duration of sedentary behavior, e.g., high physical activity expenditure with high sedentary behavior duration group, low physical activity expenditure with high sedentary behavior duration group, and so on. All participants were subjected to both exercise and control sessions. Following these sessions, the Tower of London task was administered to assess planning-related executive function. Results: We demonstrated that, compared to the control session, older adults showed lesser total move scores, higher total correct scores, and shorter total executive time and total problem-solving time after the exercise session. However, no significant differences were observed between the groups. Conclusion: The findings suggest that physical activity expenditure and sedentary behavior duration do not moderate the effects of acute aerobic exercise on planning-related executive function in older adults. Therefore, it is recommended that older adults with various lifestyle patterns engage in exercise intervention to mitigate executive function decline associated with aging. |
