| 英文摘要 | For developing the resources of domestic feed ingredients, this experiment was conducted to investigate the effects of dietary substitution of corn with sweet potato on growth performance, carcass, and blood characteristics of native chickens. A total of 330 day-old male native chickens were randomly assigned into five groups. A corn-soybean meal basal diet was offered in the control group and Tainong 66 sweet potato (TN 66 SW) were used to replace 10%, 20%, 30%, or 40% of corn in starter and grower diets during the 0-8 weeks-old period, afterwards, that were replaced 20%, 30%, 40% or 50% of corn in finisher diets during the 9-16 weeks-old period. Feed and water were offered ad libitum during the 16 weeks. Eight chickens by each treatment were sacrificed to measure the carcass and blood characteristics. Results showed that replacing 30%- 40% or 40%- 50% of corn with sweet potato in diets had significantly lower (p<0.05) weight gain, feed conversion ratio, and PEF (Production Efficiency Factor) were lower or poor during the start-grower and finisher periods, respectively. The survival rate of chickens was not affected by sweet potato replacement. The dressing and abdominal fat percentage of chickens were not affected among these groups. However, birds fed a higher sweet potato diet showed the lighter (p<0.05) on chicken and skin yellowness color. Chickens fed with high sweet potato supplementation in diet had increased blood uric acid nitrogen (p<0.05), and those decreased blood triglyceride content (p<0.05). In conclusion, the optimal substitution of corn with sweet potato in native chickens' diet was restricted to 20% or 30%, respectively, during the start-grower and finisher periods, when the growth performance was considered. |
