| 英文摘要 | This paper interprets Huang Tingjian's (1045-1105) poems related to foreign tribes and border affairs, analyzing the conciliatory thought and literary governance strategies in his mountain valley poems, discussing how these elements constitute his conciliatory external stance. The author argues that in scholarly studies of literary works dating to the Song dynasty, voices advocating for defense, peace, and other positions not ascribable to the pro-war faction are often overlooked. However, the poetry of Huang Tingjian, a prominent poet of that era, presents a steadfast and distinct conciliatory stance, which deviates from conventional perceptions. The author discusses Huang Tingjian's conciliatory stance in terms of "thought" and "strategy." In terms of thought, Huang Tingjian condemned the atrocities of war and extolled the value of peace. In order to avoid conflict, he was willing to cede territory and pay tribute, indicating a profoundly conciliatory ethos. In terms of strategy, Huang Tingjian emphasized the superiority of culture over martial prowess and set goals aligned with the strategy of "cultivating distant lands through virtue." Taken together, these two aspects constituted a resolutely anti-war stance. The aim of this paper is to enhance our understanding of the discourse on war and peace in Northern Song dynasty literary works. Huang Tingjian's conciliatory stance not only contrasts with the pro-war stance of the contemporary political leader Wang Anshi (1021-1086), it also exhibits differences in positions and degrees compared to other conciliatory figures such as Yin Zhu (1001-1047) and Han Wei (1017-1098). Huang Tingjian can be considered a representative figure of a steadfastly conciliatory faction that existed amid the prevailing trend toward military expansion during the later Northern Song period. Huang Tingjian was a pivotal figure in the Song dynasty literary scene; understanding his stances toward foreign affairs helps us to view the literary output and international contexts of that era in a more comprehensive and nuanced way. |
