| 英文摘要 | At the age of 30, Mr. Yau-tai Hwang (1912-2010) composed the music for Chien-peng Fang's new poem “Azalea.” The whole song depicts the spring of March as full of prosperity, vigor, and youth. The original purpose of this piece of music was to use music to ignite the power of the country and eliminate the sluggish social atmosphere, in order to boost the morale of the military and civilians in China during the Anti-Japanese War. Mr. Yau-tai Hwang not only composed “Azalea” into a folk ballad, but also fulfilled his ambition for the sinicization of Chinese music, the popularization of art songs, the gentrification of folk songs, the art-based transformation of patriotic songs, and the design of combination of poetry with music. “Azalea” composed by Mr. Yau-tai Hwang is the representative work of “The highest style of music is sure to be distinguished by its ease.” The tune was created using modern harmony and composition methods, and Chinese-style musical idiom was also applied. This song enriches the skeleton of Chinese folk music. Besides, its harmonies also sound natural and appropriate, and the signing method is not complicated. The chorus includes primary and secondary harmonies; there is a balance between singing and harmony; there are also symmetries in lyrics and meanings. This song is undoubtedly an art song among folk songs worthy to be handed down for a long time. |
