| 英文摘要 | Wataru Masuda, an expert in Japanese Chinese literature, is the founder of Lu Xun studies in Japan. This paper traces the academic career of Masuda, explores the academic context of his study of Lu Xun, and locates it in the history of Japanese academism. Masuda studied under Haruo Sato and On Shionoya in the 1920s. He originally studied classical Chinese Literature and devoted himself to translating classical Chinese works, and knew Lu Xun as a scholar of classical Chinese fiction. 1931, he went to Shanghai and met Lu Xun. He was fortunate enough to listen to Lu Xun’s lectures on a daily basis. This experience completely changed Masuda's academic career and his attitude toward Chinese literature, and he began to pay attention to Lu Xun and modern Chinese literature. He not only understood the meaning of Lu Xun's texts, but also Lu Xun's thoughts and attitudes in his daily life, synthesizing Lu Xun's thoughts and life, grasping the characteristics of Lu Xun as a writer. He wrote articles about Lu Xun based on his own experiences with him, which were published in the famous Japanese general magazine “Kaizo”, also published the Lu Xun Anthology at Iwanami Shoten, which translated Lu Xun's major works of fiction and essays. These activities made Lu Xun a famous foreign writer in Japan. At the same time, he expanded his vision to the modern Chinese literature around Lu Xun, introducing writers such as Mao Dun and Wu Zuxiang. He paid special attention to the ways that were acceptable to the general Japanese readers, tried to build a bridge of communication between Chinese and Japanese literature. In fact, it was the next generation of scholars, represented by Yoshimi Takeuchi, who deepened the study of modern Chinese literature in Japan, and Masuda, unlike Takeuchi, was not a sharp thinker, could only be regarded as a scholar of the transitional era. However, Wataru Masuda did open the door to the study of modern Chinese literature in Japan and laid down the basic qualities of the study, so his importance cannot be ignored. |
