| 英文摘要 | Enhancing humanities literacy is an indispensable task in university education, particularly in schools that emphasize specialized technical skills, such as medical and vocational universities, where humanistic care or literacy is often considered a core competency. General education in various institutions serves as an important pathway for cultivating humanities literacy, with classical education closely related to life education and humanities literacy. Offering courses on both Eastern and Western classics is a common practice in many universities. However, guiding students to engage with classics should not be limited to introductory readings. While primary sources should form the backbone of formal courses, overly emphasizing the study of original texts may fail to spark students' interest and hinder effective teaching outcomes. Drawing on my experience at a medical university and combining it with my academic expertise, I designed a liberal arts course titled "The Cultural Aspects of Su Dongpo," which covers various aspects of Su Shi's literature, calligraphy, painting, and health practices. Adopting a theme-based teaching approach, I structured the course into six modules, including Su Shi's biography and anecdotes, travel literature, exile literature, calligraphy and painting, health practices, and poetic life. Through this course, students are guided to read original texts, absorb humanistic knowledge from various perspectives, and gain a deeper understanding of this great cultural figure, learning from Su Dongpo's wisdom of life. This paper primarily analyzes student reflections and feedback from three different "Cultural Aspects of Su Dongpo" liberal arts courses, each course lasting one semester, at our university using research tools such as IRS. Results suggest that integrating theme-based teaching into Chinese classical curriculum helps enhance university students' positive attitudes towards life, empathy, and compassion, among other expressions of humanities literacy. This study provides valuable insights for the design of future general education courses and the implementation of classical education in higher education institutions. |
