| 英文摘要 | This paper mainly delves into the gender perspectives captured through the lenses of both male and female photographers in the “Women’s Exhibition - Revisited” photography group exhibition, co-curated by researchers Chiang Li-Hua and Lu Hsiao-Yu. This exhibition is a response to the “Women’s Exhibition” held in 1971 by the V-10 Visual Arts Collective, which, despite its rule allowing male photographers to photograph only women, regrettably lacked the inclusion of female photographers. The paper begins by reviewing the photographic environment of the era following the invention of Western photography and the changes that occurred with the rise of feminism, particularly focusing on the experiences of female photographers. It then analyzes the themes and characteristics preferred by female photographers in the “Women’s Exhibition - Revisited,” a members’ group exhibition held in 2023 by the Society of Photographic Museum and Culture of Taiwan. The exhibition showcases introspective “self-gazing” and external observations manifested by female photographers, contrasting with the impressions and “gazes” of male photographers towards women, who are presenting the “gaze” upon the female gender. By examining the planning of the “Women’s Exhibition - Revisited” and summarizing the gender perspectives in the works of the 38+1 participating male and female photographers, the paper illustrates the diversity in female identity and gender roles. Inspired by the insights from the exhibition, this paper aims to explore how gender perspectives are reflected and redefined in in today’s gender-equal Taiwanese society, and to examine the current status of women as subjects in the photographic narrative. |
