英文摘要 | Competitive disability sports have been developing for decades. Historically, it started with the 1948 Stoke Mandeville Games in the United Kingdom, marking the first official participation of athletes with spinal cord injuries and polio. Since the inaugural Paralympic Games in Rome, Italy, in 1960, outstanding athletes with impairments have aimed to compete in the Paralympic Games and achieve the honor of winning a medal. Furthermore, established in 1989, the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) has been dedicated to promoting extraordinary athletes with physical, visual, and intellectual impairments. This commitment requires talents to contribute to the specialized field of disability sports. Moreover, strict regulation, implemented since the 2012 London Paralympics, limit the number of participating athletes to 4,400. Successfully qualifying for the 22 sports and 549 gold medal events at the 2024 Paris Paralympics poses an extreme challenge for any athletes. Therefore, the world must give special recognition to the outstanding performance of elite athletes with impairments. |
